Sheerwing, antagonist of the Bladewind Novel I'm currently editing/revamping.

Sheerwing is Bladewind's arch-nemesis. He was once a member of the elder council, but he turned against the tribe when his lust for power and Bladewind turned too great. He is horribly scarred on the left side of his face, and blind in the left eye. He is one of the largest males in the tribe (11'6" feet tall compared to Bladewind's 8'8"). He possesses power over electricity and is not afraid to use it. As power makes him more corrupt, he is driven by lust for Bladewind and lust alone. Sheerwing is evil.

Sketch scanned and painted with "glazes" in Adobe Photoshop CS3. Nine hours.

A very nice image you have there, I really like the colouring and the anatomy that you used there, but I do feel that the image is too crowded from what I see with all the line details and shadings to go with it. From my view, I feel that something must be used to make the image less crowded, such as giving a bit more space between the character in the middle and the border of the image, I could be wrong though. But other than that, it is a very dramatic image that I really do like and find it well handled.

Thanks for your feedback Red. If I had it my way I would have framed it differently. Unfortunately the paper cut off his wing b/c my sketchbook is small. Even if I got a larger sketchbook, then my scanner would be too small :(

Don't worry too much, other than that which I found to be just a minor issue, I thought that image was very well done especially in the anatomy area and had a very dynamic pose that added the "life" into the image.

Almost exactly how i pictured him, a little darker, especially when he was talking to the humans.. I could almost see in my minds eye an electric aura about him..

You've definately made him real, and the story has made him delightfully evil and i cant wait to start reading more!!!
